Shields

From Titan Quest 2 Wiki

Shields in Titan Quest 2 (TQ2) can be equipped in the off-hand and help protect the player from damage by providing an equal amount of Pierce Armor and Strike Armor, but also by defensive passive bonuses based on the type of Shield, as well as Free Barrier, which increases the amount of Damage the Barrier Skill can protect you from. This means that players using a Shield should improve the Barrier Skill with Modifiers in order to get the most from their Shield.

There are 2 types of Shields in Titan Quest 2 and these are Light Shields and Heavy Shields. Light Shields do the exact same thing as Heavy Shields, providing Pierce and Strike Armor, as well as Free Barrier and a passive bonus, however they require Agility in order to use, whereas Heavy Shields require Might. This allows players making Agility focused Builds to still use a Shield if they wish, without wasting points in Might.
