Energy Barrier
Energy Barrier in Titan Quest 2 (TQ2) increases the amount of Barrier you gain from the Barrier Skill when you use it, but it adds Energy cost to the skill based on your Barrier Conversion Rate. The higher your Energy Barrier, the more damage you will be protected from when using Barrier, but the more Energy it will cost to cast. Free Barrier, by contrast, does not increase the Energy cost of Barrier, and is therefor generally considered superior to Energy Barrier.

Energy Barrier is found on Magos Robes and Plated Robes (Armor), and can be found on Shields and Armor passively via the "of Sanctuary" Suffix. Magos Robes and Plated Robes both require Knowledge to use, so you will need to invest heavily into this Attribute if you wish to gain high Energy Barrier.
You can improve your Barrier Conversion Rate via the Fast Barrier Modifier, the Storm Protection passive in Storm Mastery, and through gaining levels (0.15 per character level), lowering the Energy cost of Barrier and allowing you to stack Energy Barrier without Barrier becoming too expensive Energy cost wise.
