Armor

From Titan Quest 2 Wiki

Armor in Titan Quest 2 (TQ2) is used to protect the player from Physical Damage, which includes Strike Damage and Pierce Damage. There are a total of 5 Armor slots in Titan Quest 2 in which players can equip Armor and these are: Head, Shoulders, Torso, Arms and Legs. Each piece of Armor will add both Strike Armor and Pierce Armor, which is represented by your Total Physical Armor. Your Total Physical Armor is made up your total Strike Armor and Pierce Armor, and is not an actual defensive stat, but rather an easy way to see how much Strike and Pierce Armor you have combined.

Titan Quest 2 features different Armor Types that provide different amounts of Strike and Pierce Armor, in different ratios depending on a variety of factors. For instance, Heavy Armor typically has more Pierce Armor than Strike Armor, while Medium Armor has a balance of both Damage Types, and Light Armor provides more Strike Armor than Pierce Armor.

Additionally, each Armor Type has an intrinsic passive benefit that applies to all Armor pieces of that type. Heavy Armor has Heavy Armor Deflection on each piece, which increases your Glancing Projectile Hit Chance, reducing the damage that Projectiles do to you by 50% when they Glance. Medium Armor on the other hand has Medium Armor Mobility which increases your Dodge Cooldown Rate, allowing you to Dodge more frequently. Light Armor has Light Armor Agility, which increases the speed you can use Dodge again after Dodging, allowing you to Dodge in more rapid succession if you have multiple charges of Dodge. Ornate Armor has Ornate Armor Adornment, which increases your Resistances to Cold, Fire, Lightning and Poison Damage. Magos Robes and Plated Robes add Magos Robe Shielding and Plated Robe Warding which both add Energy Barrier. Energy Barrier increases the amount of Barrier you gain from the Barrier Skill when you use it, protecting you from more damage. The amount of passive benefit from each Armor Type increases with higher level Armor.

Lastly, each type of Armor usually requires a certain amount of 2 Attributes in order to use, which narrows your Armor selection based on your playstyle. All this is covered below so you can see exactly how this works.
